Paul "Lynn" Pletcher
Thursday, November 4, 2010
Age: 70

Location:
Cherry Valley Boulevard
Beaumont , CA 92223
United States

Paul was a member of the Redlands area bicycling club Water Bottle Transit Company. A memorial ride in his honor was held on November 13, 2010.

From the article in the Contra Costa Times about Pletcher's memorial ride:

Pletcher was born Sept. 1, 1940 in Indiana. He took his first job as an educator in 1963. He was an employee of the Yucaipa-Calimesa Joint Unified School District from 1979 to 2002. He held many jobs, including principal, special education coordinator and director of student services.

"He loved teaching," Brett Pletcher said. "Every time he had an opportunity, he would do that."

While he was an avid bicyclist, Pletcher also spent great amounts of time volunteering with the Rotary Club and spending time with his grandsons.

"He was educator, a community service man, a family man," Brett Pletcher said. "That's who he was. What you see is what you got."

A service is scheduled for 10 a.m. today at the Yucaipa Christian Church at 12954 Bryant Street in Yucaipa. The service will be followed by a reception. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Emmerson-Bartlett Memorial Chapel, also in Yucaipa.

The motorist who struck and killed Pletcher was a Beaumont man. Beyond that, the Beaumont Police Department has not released any details about him.

Chief Frank Coe said the man's name and occupation will be withheld until the department's investigation is completed.

"At this point, we are still trying to find out exactly what happened," said Chief Frank Coe. "We haven't determined what caused the accident."

And because the accident's cause is yet to be determined, no criminal charges has yet been found.
