We will be reading the names of cyclists killed on NYC streets at the 2023 Blessing of the Bikes at The Cathedral of St. John the Divine 112th Street & Amsterdam Avenue - Directions here.

7th Annual Bronx Memorial Ride

Join us again as we celebrate
the lives of those who have been killed by Traffic Violence, on the streets of
the Bronx while riding their bicycles.

Meet up at the Randall's Island Connector Bridge/e132nd Street (South Bronx) at 9:30am - ride starts at 10am.

We will ride to e136 and Bruckner Blvd, e149th and St. Ann’s, e172nd and Metcalf and the final stop will be where the ride began, Tremont Ave at Whittemore Ave.

Bring Yellow Flowers, to decorate the Ghostbikes.  The ride is approximately 10 miles. We will ride at a family friendly pace.  All types of transportation welcome!

Have you wanted to be more active in the NYC Street Memorial project?  

Want to contribute to making and maintaining ghost bike memorials?  Come to our meet and greet at the backyard of Greenpoint Reformed Church, 136 Milton, Brooklyn to learn more about the project and how to help out.  Join the volunteers of the NYC Street Memorial Project, at at a meet-and-greet event to discuss how to make, install and maintain a ghost bike memorial and talk with volunteers working on this project since 2006.

Or did you used to volunteer making and installing ghost bikes - We miss you! This is a no judgement safe space for everyone! You do not have to volunteer for anything if you want to just come by and say hello. But - we do hope that we can meet new volunteers who want to take an active part in managing this project! 

Our core group has dwindled and aged over the years, and we need fresh faces with energy and good organizational skills to keep it going and rejuvenate it.

We wil be discussing our groups need for volunteers to:

  • Take on organizing and managing our work days, where we make ad install Ghost Bikes

  • Helping with our website and social media presence

  • Coming to our workdays to make and install ghost bikes

  • Other volunteer possibilies not listed above, bring your skills and offers to help out

There will be food and [non alcholic] drinks for all, including vegan and vegitarian options. Please bring food and drink to share!

to transform them into Ghost Bikes. We also need your donations to buy
supplies and your help installing the finished Ghost Bikes.

Ghost Bike Information Workshop, Meet & Greet

Want to contribute to making and maintaining ghost bike memorials?  Come to our introduction workshop on
Thursday, May 25 to learn more about the project and how to help out.  Join the volunteers of the NYC
Street Memorial Project
, at the new Timbuk2 Brooklyn Store, at a meet-and-greet information
session on how to make, install and maintain a ghost bike memorial.

Ghost bikes have been installed to remember over 200 cyclists killed on NYC streets since 2005.  Anyone can make a ghost bike and everyone can
contribute to ghost bike maintenance. 
Drop by to get to know more about the project, how you can help out and
what tools and supplies are needed to make and maintain ghost bikes. 

We will map out upcoming installations and
discuss plans for upcoming June 3rd workday at Greenpoint Reformed
Church.  Donations of cash and volunteer
commitments for the workday will be collected. 
Raffle prizes of Timbuk2 products, music and refreshments will be provided by the store, who we thank for their support.

10th Annual Memorial Ride

The 10th Annual Memorial Ride brings New Yorkers together to remember cyclists killed in our city over the past year. This will mark the tenth year that this event has occurred. Riders will visit the site of each ghost bike, a white-painted memorial for cyclists, installed since our last memorial ride.
