Thirteen-year-old Carolina Hernandez was riding her bike to the mall with her friend when a truck took a right turn without yielding and killed her. The driver was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license, punishable by a fine.

Her father said "She was an angel. She was an excellent daughter." Carolina was described by her family as being a budding artist; a homebody who loved drawing on the computer and reading.

When we visited Carolina's ghost bike in November, someone had attached a stuffed bunny to the handlebars.
