Get involved with the NYC Street Memorial Project! For more than 5 years, the NYC Ghost Bike Project, Pedestrian Memorial Project, and Ghostbikes.org have helped New Yorkers remember the lives lost on our streets and foster a culture of mutual respect.
The Street Memorial Project seeks volunteers to help in various ways--and we are looking for new ideas, too. We need people to work on the web site, install memorials, care for existing memorials, contribute art, and organize the Annual Memorial Ride and Walk on the first Sunday in January (the next one is 1/3/10). We need your energy and ideas to keep this project going.
We want to meet you. Please come to either or both of our casual pot lucks:
Sunday 7/19, 5-8pm, Sunset Park, Brooklyn
Thursday 7/23, 7 pm, 140 Metropolitan #1 at Berry, Williamsburg, Brooklyn

This Sunday, 7/19, we will be joining Rev. Billy Talen, Green Party Candidate for Mayor of New York City, and the Life After Shopping Gospel Choir at the next installment of his weekly BBQ Revival Series.
Each week, Billy and the choir will host a BBQ/picnic in a new park. These gatherings aim to bring together local organizations and groups from all of the fabulous 500 neighborhoods across NYC. There will be performances by Billy and the choir, presentations from associated community groups and time to mingle with a host of new friends. This is your chance to come get involved!
This week's revival is in Sunset Park Brooklyn. This neighborhood's namesake park is set on a hill (the second highest point in Brooklyn) giving visitors some of the best views in all of NYC. We'll be watching the sun set on the harbor and lower Manhattan.
The neighborhood is facing an upcoming re-zoning by the city planning department that could allow for out-of-scale buildings that will block views from the park.
Meeting point:
Enter the park at the 41st St and 5th Ave entrance and walk uphill into the park. We'll be in the center field at the top.
Please bring food and beverages to share!
