A Flushing man was killed after falling off his e-bike in College Point last month, and a preliminary investigation determined he was not wearing a helmet.
Police from the 109th Precinct
in Flushing responded to a 911 call regarding an injured man near the
intersection of College Point Boulevard and 30th Avenue just after 10
p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 18.
They discovered Goubin Liu, 62, of Beech Avenue, unconscious and
unresponsive with a head injury. EMS responded and rushed Liu to
New York-Presbyterian Hospital Queens, where he succumbed to his injuries
and was declared dead on Jan. 20, police said.
A preliminary investigation by the NYPD’s Highway Collision
Investigation Squad determined that Liu was riding the e-bike near the
Con Edison – College Point Yard at 30th Avenue and College Point
Boulevard when he lost control and fell from the e-bike, striking his
head on the pavement, police said.
There were no other vehicles involved in the incident and the NYPD’s
Highway Collision Investigation Squad continues to investigate.
